What people have said

"Brought in my grandfather's Omega — it had not run since about 2010. I expected to be told it would need expensive parts. Instead, the assessment said it was mostly a matter of cleaning and re-lubrication. Six weeks later it came back running within a few seconds a day and with a full written record of what was done. I did not expect that level of detail."

"Simple battery replacement on my quartz dress watch. It was done in two days, which was faster than I expected. The note they gave me mentioned the gasket was showing some age, which I had not thought about. They asked before replacing it rather than just adding it to the bill. I will come back when the automatic needs attention."

"I had a Seiko automatic that had been gaining about three minutes a day. The regulation service sorted it. The timing printout showed it was off by nearly 45 seconds per day in crown-up position before service, and under 8 after. Seeing the actual numbers was reassuring — I knew I was not being told something vague. Cost was as quoted."

"A no-frills workshop. They told me what was wrong, told me what it would cost, and did the work. My Tudor had a crown that was stiff and the timekeeping had gone off. The piece came back running much better. No unnecessary case polishing, which I specifically did not want. Good communication throughout."

"Walked in without an appointment, which they said was fine. I had a Japanese quartz from the 1980s that needed a battery. The whole visit took about twenty minutes including a quick look at the case seals. The price was what they quoted over the counter. Nothing elaborate, but that is exactly what I needed."

"My mother's watch from the 1970s. I was nervous about bringing it to anyone because it has a cracked lacquer dial that I did not want touched. They were very clear that dial work would only happen if I asked for it, and I did not — so it came back exactly as it arrived cosmetically, but running again and with fresh oil. The rebuild record is something I will keep with the watch."

A closer look at three jobs
Case Study 01 — Heritage Rebuild
An inherited Longines that had not run in twelve years
The Situation
A 1962 Longines 30L movement passed down from a grandfather. Last worn in 2013, stopped for unknown reasons. Owner wanted it running but did not want cosmetic work — the patina on the case and dial was part of its appeal.
The Work
Full disassembly revealed dried lubricant blocking the keyless works and a worn mainspring. Spring replaced, movement cleaned, re-oiled with period-appropriate grades. Case cleaned by hand without machine polishing. Dial left entirely untouched.
The Outcome
Movement timed at +6 seconds per day in dial-up, +11 in crown-up — well within acceptable range for a calibre of that age. Owner collected after 7 weeks with a full written record. Patina and dial character preserved as requested.
"I was prepared for disappointment. Getting it back in this condition was not what I expected." — Supachai T., Chiang Mai
Case Study 02 — Automatic Regulation
A daily-wear Seiko losing time noticeably overnight
The Situation
A Seiko NH35A automatic used daily for about four years without service. The owner noticed it was losing roughly two minutes over a weekend. No physical damage, glass intact, just accumulated drift and what turned out to be old lubricant.
The Work
Movement removed, cleaned ultrasonically, re-lubricated in full. Timing machine showed -38 seconds/day before service in dial-up position and inconsistent performance across positions, indicating worn oil rather than mechanical damage.
The Outcome
Post-service: -5 seconds/day dial-up, -8 in crown-up. Owner was provided the printed timing sheet showing both sets of figures. Completed in 12 working days. Cost matched the quoted ฿11,500 with no additions.
"Seeing the numbers on paper made it clear what had changed. I appreciated that." — Riku K., Chiang Mai
Case Study 03 — Battery & Seal
A water-resistant quartz with a seal in question
The Situation
Owner brought in a water-resistant diver's quartz for a battery. She mentioned she used it regularly for swimming and was unsure whether the seal had been checked since purchase three years prior.
The Work
Battery replaced, then bench water-resistance test performed. The case tested within the manufacturer's 10 ATM rating after new crown gasket was fitted (discussed and approved before proceeding). Case back seal inspected — found serviceable, retained.
The Outcome
Completed in 3 working days. Condition note recorded gasket replacement, test pressure reached, and noted that the case back seal should be checked at next service. Owner left with a clear written record and confidence about the watch's water resistance.
"I had no idea about the gasket situation. Good that they checked and told me before assuming." — Wanlaya L., Mae Rim
